How hot is it?

I am starting to appreciate my job suddenly (air conditioning!).

The weather reports are celebrating an upcoming drop in the high temp to 100 degrees.

A bunch of the epee folk got together for a going away party (not mine)/scavenger hunt downtown this past weekend. The dream team of Kyle and me had some spectacular results! Here are some of the most flattering among them:

Here we are standing around in a fountain. I really wanted to play in it more thoroughly, but there was a time restriction, and I didn't want to look all crazy/soaked while trying to entice people to help us fulfill scavenging requirements.

Here we are getting all iconic with a pose in front of one of the bridges (Burnside).

Here we are taking a quick seat at one of Portland's famous breweries. It was a scavenging requirement. Really!

As an added bonus we were all matchy-matchy and formed The Blue Team. Pretty darn cute, eh?

Scary Stuff

I got a piece of pound cake at Starbucks this morning, and this is what the wrapper that they put it in says:

"We've got good news. We removed the artificial trans fats, artificial flavors, artificial dyes and high-fructose corn syrup."
and
"P.S. More [changes] to come."

Umm... if this is the marketing/spin, I don't want to know the truth!

(Actually, when I was in Duluth, MN in the fall, I went to a little hippie cafe and they were selling pastries there. They had a side-by-side comparison of their ingredients list and the Starbucks ingredients list for a blueberry muffin. Their list was about 8 items long, things you would expect like flour, sugar, salt, oil, blueberries, etc. The Starbucks list was a FULL PAGE! I think it was about size 14 font with reasonable margins.)

Awesome From the Week Past

1. I finally ate hushpuppies after WEEKS of longing.

2. Whole Foods was playing the Space Jam song during my lunch hour on Wednesday.

3. I learned that Snoop Dogg stars in a full length film described as "a rap musical inspired by his Rhythm & Gangsta album." It is called Boss'n Up.
