Ash's Goings Ons

It's a little blog about what's up with me.

Infrequency

There is something about the non-scheduledness of Summer that makes normal habits unhabituate, this blog being a prime example. This post may even be futile since all my readers should have lost hope in hearing from me by now. I was justifying my absence by telling myself that I'm seeing all my readers (my mom and my grandma) much more regularly than I was as a Colorado resident, therefore there is no need to post news. This of course, is silly. How do I know? Well, there is a (extremely low) probability that someone else reads this, for one thing. But, the reason I know this is wrong is that I have been equally disfunctional about writing in my journal. My conclusion, then, is that I'm just out of the groove of writing regularly in any forum... doing anything regularly actually.
So, that should adequately address any fears that you may have had about me either dying or becoming one of the most boring people alive. Well, I guess I AM kind of boring compared to normal because I don't have any thrilling tales of foreign lands (foreign: lands outside of Michigan), but I can assure you that I have an exciting-as-ever mental life. Okay, that is not entirely true. That world has been reduced from questions of ethics, metaphysics and art to questions of the best cat names and small-space decorating techniques for an Oregon home that is neither coastal retreat nor mountain cottage, but is (geographically) midway between the two.

Really, though, things are going well. I am enjoying being home and relaxing. My only regret is getting sucked into television viewing. It is somehow irresistable... devil box. It reduces my productivity to something in the range of 2% of normal. I haven't even finished reading a book. I don't know how I got through my young life with one of those things in the house. It is truly amazing that I ever graduated from high school! It's strange. I can't stop watching the dang thing here, but when I move to Oregon and there isn't one around, I won't miss it at all. (The Tour de France will already be over, after all.)

I would pledge to post more regularly, but why? I'll let the cards fall as they may.
